Exploring Reparative Capital with Orchid Capital Collective

Earlier this month, Humanize Wealth co-hosted an intimate gathering with Orchid Capital Collective at Seattle’s historic Labour Temple, bringing together philanthropists and impact investors to explore how capital can advance reproductive and economic justice.

The session opened with mindfulness exercises that invited participants to notice what being in community feels like in their bodies — grounding the conversation in shared purpose. Orchid shared lessons from their pilot fund supporting midwifery and community-rooted care infrastructure, sparking discussion on the true cost of building investable, community-owned models and the role of reparative and catalytic capital. Their work spans land and real estate acquisition, workforce development, and investing in tech and services to anchor care centers, sustain care networks, and build long-term community economic power.

This inspiring conversation is just the beginning — we’ll share details on a follow-up event soon.
