Good News as Fuel

These days, it seems we are constantly bombarded with bad news — making it easy to miss the hopeful stories brewing in the background. But good news is good for your nervous system. Our latest blog rounds up recent environmental wins you may have missed — from Indigenous activists defending the Amazon to salmon protections here in the Pacific Northwest. Even when the world is dark, we can look to what is working, stay inspired by those on the ground fighting, and continue to manifest hope through small actions.

In that spirit, we gathered to celebrate Free the People to Free the Money to Free the People, an anthology and a reminder that organizing wealthy people toward justice is a decades-long project, and it's working. We also recently co-signed an amicus brief in support of Anthropic because responsible AI development is part of the world we're fighting for too. Finally, we're spotlighting the Sheconomy campaign: a 14-week challenge to turn women’s financial power into collective action and measurable impact.

The Sheconomy Challenge

The World Economic Forum estimates it will take 100 years for women to achieve economic equality. Invest for Better's Sheconomy campaign is working to change that. They've created a 14-week challenge to promote collective action and empower women to step fully into their economic power. This week’s theme: “Break the Silence Around Money” prompts participants to: name something you've been afraid to admit about money, share it with someone you trust, and notice what shifts. WE’RE TAKING ACTION

Humanize Wealth believes in responsible AI development — a related action we took:

On March 13, 2026, we co-signed an amicus brief filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia by member-based Freedom Economy, in support of Anthropic's lawsuit seeking a temporary injunction against the U.S. Department of War. Following a breakdown in negotiations, President Trump issued a directive ordering all federal agencies to stop working with Anthropic. Secretary Hegseth then ordered federal military contractors to cease "any commercial activity" with Anthropic, labeling Anthropic a "supply chain risk" under 10 U.S.C. § 3252 — powers previously invoked only against foreign adversaries. This action threatens Anthropic’s entire business as it could prevent all other federal contractors from doing business with them.

This disproportionately punitive action came after Anthropic sought to limit the Department of War's use of Claude AI to practices consistent with its AI safety principles — specifically, seeking assurances against mass domestic surveillance and fully autonomous weapons deployment. Such guardrails are central to Anthropic's status as a Benefit Corporation and a key reason Claude AI has been widely adopted. Separate amicus briefs from Microsoft, Google and OpenAI employees, and others reflect broad support for Anthropic's position. The matter now rests with the federal court.

Event Recap: Free the People to Free the Money to Free the People

On Saturday, a vibrant community of donors, nonprofit leaders, and movement builders gathered at the Inatai Foundation for the launch celebration of Free the People to Free the Money to Free the People: An Organize the Rich Anthology.

Co-editor Mike Gast moderated a rich conversation with contributors Alex T. Tom, Sharon Chen, and Mijo Lee, who each read excerpts from their sections of the book and shared personal stories about what it means to organize wealthy people in service of justice. The anthology chronicles 50+ years of this work, weaving together stories, interviews, and analysis from a multiracial, cross-class community of leaders committed to shifting wealth and power.

The central message of the evening was clear: organizing the rich matters. Sharon Chen closed with a personal and timely call to action around noncompliance: she challenged donors to reflect now on whether their giving is driven by tax incentives — and to be prepared to give boldly even if the tax code changes and deductions or 501(c)(3) status are no longer guaranteed. As that time may soon come.
